Sept...7...Duxford Imperial War Museum visit,

I have organised a trip to the Duxford museum, the largest collection of Aircraft and Military vehicles in the Country.
This is not on a Display Flying day, there is too much to see without watching the flying.
I need an idea of numbers and area you live, so I can plan a route for meeting points.
Other regions are most welcome to join us, we will plan meeting points for you and times.
I have negotiated special rates for the club.
I'm sure that we can, between the ex-RAF guys, give a lot of good information about many of the exhibits.


Discount rate £11.55(oap) & £13.20. Route & pick-up TBC in July. No restriction for numbers.

Count me in, but will arrive by vintage aeroplane. If you want me to help with a guided tour, then I would be delighted. After all, I have flown at least 3 of the exhibits
 
Hi Gavin, This is a 'local' attraction for R24 but unfortunately on this day we are looking to attend Super Car Sunday at Sharnbrook as we did last year where we have lunch & watch Italian GP..... Followed by a drive out for those interested...... Will keep it in mind should the above not materialise..... Regards Paul
 
So far I have 2 people wanting to attend Duxford air museum. Any others interested contact ASAP or I will be cancelling yet another planned event!
 
Hi Gavin Count Lynn and myself in. Speaking to others today there are a couple more who are going. I hope this doesn't get cancelled. Come on folks would be great having a convoy down to Duxford S and L
 
Sorry won't be there on the 7th, as are planning to be at the airshow the following weekend 14th Sept, when they plan to have the two Lancasters as part of the warbirds air show.
 
Hi, Gavin, You've chosen the one day that both Lancasters will be flying just 4 miles away over Ludford. What a choice you've given me! However, as the 912 will not be ready in time...unless there is an empty seat going? Brod
 
The route and meeting places for the Duxford trip are as follows: Pick up at Grimsby Laceby Roundabout at 0800-0810 Bentley Hotel Lincoln, 0850-0900 A1/A151 Travelodge car park NG33 5JR 0945-0955 A1-A14 A14-M11 Arrive Duxford 11ish An e-mail will be sent out to all who have shown an interest, this will include my Phone number. If anyone else wants to come along or needs another meeting point, please let me know ASAP.

Last minute notices, I have spoken again with Duxford today, we will still be eligible for group discount providing we have more than 15 persons attending. Currently I have 8 cars on the list. If anyone else wants to join for this visit to what is the largest aviation museum in Europe, please feel free to join us at the rendezvous points mentioned above. We only get the discount if we all arrive together! As we are not part of a display, if you wanted to attend but not in your Porsche; that is not a problem as long as you still meet the convoy. If anyone has a spare seat, I have a person looking to attend; alas their Porsche is currently poorly.
 
Apparently the Travel Lodge at Colsterworth is now deserted, it was suggested therefore that the Burger King/Fuel station within the same area would be a suitable alternative. Horse Trials are ongoing at Burghley but delays, if any should only be minimum. When I was Stationed at Wittering across the road, we rarely noticed the difference. Thanks to Stuart for the Intel, our roving eyes on the ground!
 
Unfortunately, we have had a couple of cancellations and will therefore no longer qualify for the discounted rate of entry. That is unless we have some extras join us at our rendezvous points. For those that noticed, we are not going down the A1096, but from the A1 to the A14. Sorry I'm not sure what happened with my map reading.
