If you are going to this event and have not registered your interest via me would you please read below and Contact Greg to ensure that you get a space in the Porsche Parking area.
-----------------------------------------------
This is for anyone intending to come to Duxford next weekend. I am told that Duxford is short of car club space this year so if you don't register with me you may not get in to park on the PCGB pitch. Please email me or reply to this post to say you are coming before 30 April - let me know your (real) name, your region and what car you will be bringing. Please bring your Porsche Club membership card with you.

This is the text of the article that was on page 14 of the April Porsche Post:

IWM Duxford Spring Car Show
Sunday 2 May 2009

R11 (Essex) is hosting the increasingly popular PCGB display at the Imperial War Museum Duxford. We have outgrown our 60 car pitch to the east of the American Air Hangar and will therefore be in a new area with space for 100 cars.

This is a fun, family day out with a wide variety of things to do aside from looking at the car club displays. The museum is vast, spanning several hangars dotted all over the airfield. You may be able to take a trip in a vintage sightseeing aircraft and will probably spot some interesting classic aircraft flying around.

If you are planning to attend, it would be useful if you could email the following details before 30 April to gt@feering6.fsnet.co.uk "" your name, your region number, car model, registration year. This helps us to see who is coming and how to set out our plot. In return I will send you a map showing our new parking area on the airfield.

The Museum is just off J10 on the M11. Entry will be through Gate 1, (not the main Visitor Entrance). Follow the yellow "˜Car Club' signs on the A505, which will lead you to Gate 1. Postcode CB22 4QR

First entry is at 9:30am. The Museum will open at 10:00am but you may arrive at any time after that. Entry price £9.50 per adult in a display car "" a reduction of £7 on the normal fee. Free entry for children under 16; dogs are not allowed.

Bring a picnic if the weather is good. Bring warm clothes regardless of the weather "" this is a big open space and the wind can whip through it!

Greg Thompson R11 Assistant.

Just checked the forcast and it says thundery rain in the morning but should clear in the afternoon but will still be very cold.

What's also a worry is that the forecast for tonight is heavy rain so the grass area where we will park could be a mud bath - and it's uphill as well! Personally, I'm still debating whether it's worth 1 1/2-2 hours drive each way in not nice driving conditions (my baby does not like getting wet!) for a day that's not conducive to wandering around looking at the cars. I saw all the hangars last year, and wife is more interested in cars than planes so would not be best pleased if we could not see the cars. Probably won't finally decide until tomorrow morning.

The ground under foot given we've had little rain for weeks should be fine. Real shame to miss a bank holiday weekend car festival especially given that today has been fine. Not atall as forcasted.
