Dyeing Rear Luggage Cover

Is it possible to dye the rear luggage cover from Black to Burgundy or will this fail due to the original colour being too dark?

If not would it work with a lighter coloured cover and finally to make things easier does anyone have a retracting burgundy rear luggage cover for sale [:D]

ORIGINAL: colin944

I take it yours is cloth and not vinyl like mine.

The Black one is Vinyl but I also have a cloth one that a friend was going to give me to dye, but don't think this will work [:(]

Pictures of the cover

The blind is in good working order, but there are a couple of bits that I want to point out.

On one end the plastic has cracked off a bit (not visible when fitted but wanted anyone to know), also the beading on the cover has a bit that has come away with age as shown in another picture but would probably glue back down. The cover itself is in very good condition with no fading.

I have been experimenting with making a new fabric piece, mine is Ok but just looks tired
I have a very similar fabric and all the correct braid ......first attempts look really good I'm about to post it on my restoration thread just need to get the braid stitched on. it has taken a few attempts because I have re-in forced the scallop as this is gets tatty by grabbing it to operate the blind
I have a slight advantage as my wife owns a window blind manufacturing company[;)]
This is not a cheap option but looks real quality I have Powdercoated the casing so it looks like new....pictures next week when it's fully finished

Craig is passing on this cover so it is available to anyone who wants/needs a rear blind.

Postage by UPS or Citylink is £10.00 due to the size and was looking for £40 for the cover (£50 in total) but if that is not an accurate price then make me an offer and will discuss [;)]

I made a wooden insert with hole drilled for the axle of the roller blind to sit in. Another hole for screw to secure the wooden piece into the case of the roller assy. Then painted it satin black.
