Dyno advice wanted please.

Taking my car in for a dyno run at Advanced Engines in Whitham, Essex next week. £50 a session apparently. What do I need to get, a print out and anything else? Fitting a Hayward and Scott exhaust afterwards then taking back for another session. Then probably a chip as recommended on here.

Anything in particular I need to ask for or about?

Just make sure you get a printout of your AFR (air fuel ratio) against bhp and torque. Armed with these your custom chip burner will be able to optimise the AFR in the new chip across the rev range.

If you use Steve Wong in the States he will programme another chip for free after you have done your modifications, all you have to do is return the first one to him afterwards. I found him to be the most knowledgable and helpful guy on 3.2's next to our own RB.

As an aside I had an H & S system fitted and it made all the difference, particularly to the sound which is now more in keeping with the car and not, as my son said "a hovercraft!"

Last thing ....If your not already doing so I would run your car on 98 RON Optimax as it can make quite a difference to the figures.

Good luck and post your charts both before and after. Most of us going down this route end up the good side of 250bhp and 215lbs/ft

Dunno if they can monitor inlet temp on their set up, but if they can it's good to have it on there too.

Thanks for the advice. I certainly think a chip will follow and then no doubt the suspension will feel it'a age! Who says these aren't great cars to own and tinker with!

Roll on dry warm roads!!!

Hi
Do you know if the PCGB organise any similar Dyno days?

Mike,

You quite often find that Dyno Days are organised by individual Registers or Regions. Just keep an eye on the forum - they are usually announced in good time to get booked in. I know the 3.2 Register and the 964RS Register have organised days at Weltmeister at Silverstone in the past and I'm sure there are many others.

Regards

Dave

Hi

I'll be organising another one in the spring at Weltmeisters.

Cost is around £40, which is a good saving over a one off. Keep and eye on the register and R24 forum for the date.
