Organised by Lee (Lemon) from the 944 forum - fantastic day all round!

What a great morning this was!! Seriously cool way to spend a lovely sunny autumnal morning, nice egg and bacon roll, tea and coffee, and a great bunch of fellow petrolheads who are all more interested in driving their cars than anything else.

Some really nice cars there, with just one air/oil-cooled interloper, ahem...![;)]

Some pics...

The nervous 'father' anxiously awaits the outcome of the power run - the rest of us bolt for the door as the room fills with unburnt hydrocarbons!![:D]

The expectant 'fathers' await their turn on the rollers!

Most of us then retired to a lovely old pub nearby that Lee has fallen out of a few times...[;)]

And the final figures??...

Lee, please tell me if I'm contravening any magazine embargo, with this last one??!![:D]

To end, many thanks to Lee for organising it and to the guys at Dyno Demons who were friendly, professional and totally accomodating all day.

Great to meet you all and look forward to doing it again one day soon.

Cheers
Nick

Fantastic result with your car today Nick, bet you pleased as punch....

Very very impressed....And it sounded lovely[8D][8D][8D]

But I will be back, with a lighter wallet and a few more goodies to catch you up[:D]

Catch you soon so I can have a passenger ride.

Cheers

Lee

Well, for a 140K standard bottom end with part used RS barrels & pistons & only 1000miles since the rebuild,it's a very good result-I should have gone to provide a comparator. Not jealous-really.

293!!! Well you don't need a remap! or the dyno is a bit optimistic [8|]

Well, that was my first thought, but seeing as the solitary 944 Lux made 148bhp (down from 163 23 yrs ago), 944 S2s all made between 175bhp and 204bhp (supposedly 211bhp when new) and all of the 944 Turbos were modified in some way and thus expected to give 280-350bhp, but were all slightly lower than that on the day, does lead me to believe that the figures are fairly accurate. It was a Dyno Dynamics rolling road, which is allegedly the best for accurate results too.

Even if they were 5% up, I'm still very happy!

Standard bottom end yes, but fully rebuilt, don't forget!

I wonder how much difference the rotation of the 3 pistons on one bank makes, along with the RS flywheel & clutch and the partial decat/cup pipe?

I asked them to limit the revs to 6000 on the day, but they told me that power was still climbing at that point...

So 290bhp at 6000rpm, with perhaps a few more at 6250!

Great day all round![:)]

Dyno appears to be spot on[][][]

I was looking for 290 to 300 and only achieved 269bhp.
Already looking at MAF's Nick [][][]

So I think Nick's 293 is give or take a few gee gee's spot on.

Well done Nick

I've got more bad news for you.......Nick's unexpected extra horses are unleashed at the better end of the car too [;)][:D]

Come on Steve, that's a bit below the timing belt-apparently-some of those with supposed horses at the other end couldn't find them all-but having cars myself with horses at each of the ends,I have to sit on the fence.

Not at all Colin....rear vs front engine banter should be encouraged when their is the slightest opportunity and conducted in the spirit of which it is intended. [;)]

p.s. What are these 'timing belts' that you speak of? [:D][:D][:D]

Steve,
"Many years and oft in the Rialto" -(bit of Shakespeare culture creeping in there),I worked for Renold Chains in Didsbury & you could call me a "chain" expert or chainman. They were always called -timing chains-those that are used to drive the camshafts of course-sometime later,Renold bought Crofts in Bradford(having bought Holroyds earlier) & Crofts sold Toothed belts as well as V-belts-toothed belts were sold where "timing " was important industrially, hence the generic name-Timing Belts.Massive advantage to engine designers but Porsche & BMW continued to use chain camshafts supplied by Renold-massive advantages with chain on technical engines-drives should last the engine life.
So really,I should move off the fence towards chain camshafted engines.
Can't add a smiley to lighten the verbage as mine don't work for some reason.

Cheers,

Colin.
