Dyno Day

Hi guys thought it would be better to have a thread for this.
Went to Monster Motorsport this afternoon and met Neil.
They have had the Dyno Dynamics dyno for about 2 years and specialise in Jap turbos, but have done allsorts.
Currently they are building a cell for it, walls up, roof on, will be finished in 4 weeks or so.

Front fan is approx 1m with 30hp motor

At the back there will be 2 smaller 0.6m fans extracting upwards

and if cooling is still a problem they have 2 smaller fans

Apologies for the quality of the pics

They usually use 6 straps on 250hp plus cars and the dynos torque bracket.

Cost would be £45 for the 3 runs with printouts etc based on 5 or so cars, but could come down if we book more.

Saturday morning and / or afternoon (maybe Sunday too if there are that many!)

Edit - Loughborough is approx 120 miles from London right by Junction 23 on the M1 - the unit is about 10 min from the motorway

Cheers

I'd be up for this as Loughborough isn't too far away and it would be really useful to get my car on the rollers having not run it up since I had the engine rebuilt.

Have you any particular dates in mind ?

Chris

Looks fabulous. Can I make the first suggestion for a date of the first weekend in June? It's about the same time as the last dyno day and gives the best chance of a nice day for those travelling a long way?

Good shout on making a new website GPF. I have another idea, we could use a WIKI for it? I have a server that we can host it on. That way everyone can contribute and can write a page about their car, upload pictures and all collaborate etc? It would essentially be like our own wikipedia. Could also use it for hosting lots of usefull 944 related information.

How about this http://944ukleague.wikkii.com/wiki/Main_Page anyone who makes an account can edit and create pages etc. Just click the edit button to make changes to a page and if you want to create a page just create a link to it by surrounding it in square brackets like [[Toms Page]] and save the page. Then when you click on the link it will create the page for you.

I'll take a ride up there if the weathers good, assume they check the fueling during the runs ?.

I'd be up for popping along to this, I'm not sure about putting my car on the rollers but I'll definitely turn up and see how you all get on.

It might be interesting to see how few bhp my 944 has ...

I know it is fitter than the other one though, Jon and I have drag raced them!

Great idea. Has anyone considered asking Rick to either come along or add the results to the original league? [8|]

Makes perfect sense to me.

No point starting a second table and throwing away all the info collected over many previous years

I know Rick is always pressed for time, so I wonder if he could let someone else have his page or just the data off it for one of the volunteers above to import on to a new page?

I think the Table should be looked after by an active 944 member.

One of the frustrations in the past, for me anyway, was that the Table was very often out of date with updates not posted. As Mike said, Rick is always pressed for time so that's quite understandable - and credit to him for hosting the list in the first place.

But it should be possible for one of us to keep the Table and associated website up to date all the time. I'm quite happy to take that on as volunteered, but if Tom, or anyone else for that matter wants to do it instead then that's fine too.[:)]

We can get all the old data into a new site fairly easily....

The good thing about a WIKI is that anyone with an account can update the site. Or we can make it so you have to be an administrator to do edits or whatever. At the moment you can just create an account and start editing.
