[h1]My 64 plate Macan S is great, but I'm thinking of going to e-hybrid for the updated version due out shortly. Can owners of the Cayenne version please post their thoughts/experiences?

Thanks

I love mine .. I charge overnight so always set off on any journey with a full battery - When I set off the indicated range is around 11-13 miles (winter to summer variance), however with coasting, regen etc my UK A road drives sees more like 18 to 20 miles. If commuting into London, I use 6 to 8 miles of charge to get to the M4 then change to the ICE, reserving the battery for any traffic jams I hit or the last few miles into Chiswick. I charge at work and do the same in reverse heading home. My hybrid replaced a Tesla P85D (and prior to that a P85+) which I gave up on due to terrible build quality, having had numerous Porsches before, I just needed the better handling & ride, better build quality etc back

I average 32 mpg and therefore see 500 to 600+ miles from a tank of petrol

Get your dealer to lend you one perhaps

Hi ..

Do you mind me asking how you charge your car ? Do you use the Porsche Charging Unit supplied with the car (with a 3 pin socket into the mains) or do you use an EV wall charger ?

Thanks gdavidson .. does your Cayenne have the 7.2KW onboard charger or the standard 3.6KW ?

(Mine has the standard 3.6KW .. I believe I can get a 7KW EVSE wall charger to future-proof even though the current car would only be able to consume 3.6KW - would you agree ?).

I do have the 7Kw on board and yes you are correct getting a 7Kw EVSE installed will future proof you and will run at the 3.6Kw of your onboard system for now

I've just swapped my 68 Range Rover ATB P400E for a lovely 69 ex-demo fully loaded (with £32k options) Cayenne e-Hybrid with only 573 miles. I've had 5 Range Rovers in the past. An original RRS 3.0 SDV6 HSE in 2011 and then from 2017 RRS 3.0 SDV6 HSE, RR ATB SDV8, RRS ATB Dynamic 3.0 SDV6 Hybrid, and finally after a Tesla S back to RR ATB P400E and all with problems. I made the mistake due to the delays in ordering a new model Cayenne e-Hybrid in trying a Tesla S P100 Ludicrous shortly before finding a lovely RR ATB P400E. I always said NO to the RR 2.0 4 cylinder plugin hybrid due to engine size and concerns of previous RR issues.....BUT I love the look and interior of the car (but not the steering feel or 2.0l engine)....I should have held off and waited longer for the Cayenne!!! I've now been in my Cayenne for 4 days and will never buy or consider a RR every again!

I miss the following items from my RR not fitted as options to my car (or the standard car)
  • traffic sign recognition (front camera sign recognition not fitted as option on my car)
  • adaptive cruise control - again not standard
  • massage and cooling climate seats - lovely when you get used to them
  • heated steering wheel
And one negative, even with mandatory tracker fitted (same for RR too), the fully comp. insurance (including business use) with identical cover to the RR, increased from £250 to £443 per year via multi-car with LV. Still very very happy but % wise I was surprised with the large jump from the "cheap to insure RR ATB at £120K list"..compared to Cayenne at £100k list with options.

Outside of that the Cayenne is a stunner in Jet Black with Red Bordeaux leather, privacy, Sport design kit, Sport tailpipes, Burmeister 1450w Sound System, Panoramic Roof, Traffic Lane Change, Soft Close, Auto-dimming mirrors in/out, heated / memory 14 way seats, rear screen entertainment, power steering plus, park assist with surround view / cameras ( a must have if you get a chance to select it), etc. etc..

I also have a 7.2kw home charging unit at home to charge the car (BP Chargemaster)

Very happy indeed!
Steve
