E-supercharger Or turbocharger

i was reading that porsche are starting to get into 48v alternator systems so that turbo or superchargers can run using the hybrid system. I also read that they can give a boost in psi but really cant be the cheap ones. A proper compressor is required like Garrett. Anything else will not cut it.

anybody played about with this.

i looked into changing battery to 48v.
change alternator to support the charging of a 48v battery. Bosche are playing about with this.
i dont know how the wiring from the e-supercharger to accelerator works but installing it should be as per a normal supercharger mod. Connect from the induction cold air inlet.

Neil,

Audi has been messing around with a high voltage (48-volt) electrically driven compressor to supplement the turbo system on their high range diesel engined cars. The e-compressor picks up air after the intercooler and ducts it to the intake pipe upstream of the throttle valve but I believe that it operates only to reduce low speed turbo lag when the throttle is opened.

I believe that as an interim solution the 48-volt system runs in parallel with the conventional 12-volt electrical system to power conventional electrics which involves having two batteries and two wiring harnesses.

I'm sure that such a system could be adapted for a petrol engined turbo installation but would require a lot of work to get a throttle response suitable for general road use.
