Early 944 manual seat slide rail runners

I'm looking for a set of seat slide rail runners for my track-preparation project, and I've been told that after-market bucket seats with side-mountings will bolt straight onto 968 ClubSport runners. Since 968CS parts are as rare as Dodo droppings, I was hoping that the earlier 944 manual slide rail runners would be the same as those used on the 968CS - is anyone able to confirm or otherwise?

I suppose this is a question for those who have put bucket seats into their 944s - have you guys bolted the seats straight to the floor, or did you use runners? If so, which runners did you managed to find that fits/work with the 944? The ones I have found so far explicitly say "excluding Porsches" (e.g. on Demon Tweeks or the Corbeau websites).

ISTR all the guys on here that have fitted race seats have tended to use fixed mounts, if nothing else it would be for the weight loss. I can't see why the 968 runners would be any different from 944, there are plenty of 944 owners with 968 seats for example.

I have base mounted Corbeau bucket seats mounted onto Ford Fiesta manual runners.

I needed to drill two extra holes further back in the runners so they lined up with the Corbeau holes, and then change the width of the cross bars that link the two runners so they lined up with the holes in the floor of the 944.

I think side mounted seats are much harder to tailor

I've ordered a pair of side-mounted Corbeau Sprint Excel seats, and prior to doing so, I spoke to Alex at EMC Motorsport about my options - apparently the Ford Mondeo manual seat sliders would work with the 944 with little to no modifications. I'll report back on how that goes...

I think they wouldn't be low enough with any runners under them for my taste. My Sprint XLs are touching the carpet at the back and I still sit far too high in them.

How tall are you? I'm 5"8 so not the tallest bloke in the world (I got the Excels for my width and fat thighs)...

I'm 5'11" or thereabouts. I'm not on the roof by any means, but I wanted to be peering over the steering wheel and that just isn't happening in a 944 unless you're unusually short I think.

Potentially you might sit 1 1/2" lower than me so you might be in a similar place with runners under the seat and if so you'll be fine, but I'd rather have been at least a couple of inches lower if I could have been. Also while I'm sure Alex knows what he's talking about with the Mondeo runners (and I have never seen them), the Sprint is side mount only and I'd expect the Mundano's seats are bottom mount so there is presumably more to it than just bolting them in.

Cool, by the sound of it (and I'm purely basing this on my imagination here), I should be OK height-wise...I'll just make sure the seats are bolted as low down as possible in case any of my taller friends want to have a go with the 944!

I seem to recall Alex saying that he's going to bolt the Sprints to Corbeau side mounts, which will then be bolted to the Mundano sliders...apparently that's been done before with excellent results.
