Made the swap from the early (Pre 85.5) injection system to the late injection system about a month ago. Thought that some might be interested to know what my findings were. I simply swapped the DME and AFM over and that was it.
Early Injection System:
Ran very rich when injecting on the AFM signal, often around 12-13AFR
About 13 when at WOT
Performance wise was pretty spot on, went well across the rev range.
Late Injection System:
AFR very well controlled when using the AFM. Sits between 14 and 15 AFR almost all the time.
About 13 AFR when at WOT
Performance wise doesnt seem as good below 4000rpm as the early injection system.
As my car is a daily driver I am quite pleased with the results, the fuel consumption is definately better. I would prob stick with the early system if I wasnt concerned with fuel consumption.
