Yes, the early 3.4's had a mechanical throttle, using DME5.2.2. They changed the C2 to electronic throttle for MY2000 when they introduced DME7.2. ALL 996 C4's were electronic throttle (MY1999-on). MY2000 started with cars built from 1st September 1999.

Hi. A bit of info required here please (for a 944 interloper ) if anyone can help? Were the early 996 cars fitted with a cable operated accelerator pedal (as opposed to an electronic system I assume). If so when did Porsche change this set up? A specific chassis number would be very useful. Thanks & regards.
