My 996 3.4 C2 was first registered on 09/04/98. It is taxed and tested and still running regularly on the road. Does anybody have an earlier one? I wonder which club member has the oldest? Regards. Zeusy.

O.k. Nice one Jules your motor takes it for the moment as Richard has sold his on (can you recall the reg number?).

There must be other potentially older cars out there somewhere whose owners have yet to declare.

I wonder who has the youngest 996?

Regards.

Zeusy.

Hi all,

A quick Google search for that reg shows that the mot ran out in July 2012.

Looks like it's been off the road for a few years.

No MOT history that I can find, which is odd. Last time I heard of it, it had about 140,000 miles on it, and was still going strong, albeit a bit neglected by the owner at the time.

I suspect a lot of the early cars will have bitten the dust by now or have been parked up in various states of disrepair. I am interested to find out if there are any club members with any of these early models (i.e. manual C2 from the first 6 months of production) and if they are still being driven on the road. The cabriolet listed above is probably one of only very few cars of that spec still left. Zeusy.

Hi, i have a C2 convertible, registered 28/5/1998. I've owned it for about 8 years and it's still on the road. Never really had any major problems with it.

Mine originally registered 12/2/98 - so can't quite beat Richard but couldn't be closer. I have owned this for over 4 years and its a 3.4 C2 tiptronic with 117k on the clock. At Ragley Hall I was parked next to a similar 996 with 215k so there is clearly no need to worry about putting the mileage on. Regarding Richard's 996, if it had changed registration number would this explain it being missing?

I might have one of the youngsters, with first registration being 6th March 2004.

Bought the car in July, It is still on the road and running happily. Early history is unknown but it is running on the original engine at 118000 Clutch, flywheel, cam chains, tensioners and IMS bearing were changed about a year ago. VIN no ends with 640707

Ours is April 1998 but it's a Cabriolet which I assume is quite early for a rag top 996

Mine was 03/03/98. Still in excellent condition, used daily up till about six months ago, now used weekends as got another car. 115k on the clock.

My production completion date was 13.05.1998 with date of first registration 18.05.1998.
