Early Manual Clips Onto Late Electric Sunroof

Does anyone have any experiece of this? Had I not heard to the contrary then Id have said that it wasnt possible because the early manual roof is a different shape to the later type, but I have seen posts to this effect in Rennlist I think, so Id be grateful if anyone would share their experience.

 
When I got my car the electric sunroof was fudged
So bought a manual roof slipped straight in if that's any help
 
I think Peter Empson may have done that swap before going for a roof panel. drop him a mail?
