Early upshifting in 996 C4

volumes

New member
I have recenly found my 996 C4 Tip tends to upshift early causing the manifold / Centre Pipe to rattle / Vibrate and cause a clanging sound.

Its very noticable and sounds extremely unhealthy.

This is my first Porsche and did check with the dealer that it have a full service prior to my purchase. I was woundering would new transmision fluid help or is is due to driving the car at low rev's around town ?

I have only run 3,000 miles in the past 6 months and was wondering is there anything i should be aware off or do to prevent any commonly rasied problems ?

Any comments or helpful advise are more than welcomed.

Many thanks.

Vinny Chu

Sounds like you need a tranny fluid change to me. I had mine changed at 60,000 miles on my car and the old stuff was pure black.

Richard will hopefully be along soon!

Checking transmission fluid isn't part of a major service. If the car has done more than around 50-60,000 miles, I agree with Paul that it would be a good idea to have a fluid change. The scheduled change is 96,000 but IMO that is really pushing things.

Thanks for the advice Paul and Richard,
I will change the tranny fluid.

Cheers for all your help gents.
speak soon no doubt.

Many Thanks

Vinny Chu
