ebay purchase MOT time (gulp!)

Having got the old girl running, I thought I'd chuck it in for an MOT today.

Only failed on rear brakes binding and hand brake ineffectual, wiper blades, washers and horn not working.

Not bad considering its been off the road since 2004!

I think the brakes are binding because the callipers are seized on their sliders, but the hand brake will be a bit more of a mission. I can't get the shoes to let go of the drums at the moment. It tries to pull the whole lot off when I try to remove the disk/drum assembly. The adjusters look pretty rusted up as well.

Dead chuffed though. Always a bit of a gamble when purchasing unseen off of ebay.

Thats not bad at all. The 944 is a very well made and tough old thing from back in the day when German build quality really was something to be reckoned on. She certainly sounds worth a bit of TLC to get her back to her former glory (or something fairly close to it at least !)

One (possibly stupid) question?

Have you made sure the handbake is off before trying to remove the drum. Guess why I ask? :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Paul...................No surely not DOH.
Mind you i could not fathom out why i was not getting any fluid out when bleeding the brakes on one car i had jacked it up and the suspension arm was hanging down which in turn was connected to the brake bias valve which in turn was as good as closed not allowing fluid to pass...Double Doh !
Sixappeal give the brake disc a couple of taps with a calibrated hammer( a soft mallet would be better) get someone to do this and try to ease the disc off at the same time, a little bit of condensation on the brake shoes can get an almighty hold.

Mines due it's MOT in 4 weeks...... Need to get a seal kit ordered for the PAS pump and get the leak sorted before I put it in for the test.... Hand brake might be the only other problem, but have plenty of time next week to check it out.......
