EBC Discs

The rear discs do far much less work than the fronts , thats why they are usually smaller and often solid rather than vented. Putting more agressive brakes on the rear without matching similar components to the front is likely to upset the brake balance of the car. The compound of the cast iron and brake pad work together to give characteristics of initial bite, fade and wear . Personally I would stick with OEM suppliers and then you can be sure the wear and response is as intended and remains balanced between front and rear. Rear discs bought from eurocarparts or german swedish and french which are OEM supplier but not porsche stamped are likely to be cheaper than the EBC items anyway.

I wouldnt fit EBC anything, i work for Carbotech Europe and we make high performance brake pads which ourselves and our customers use on all brands of discs, we find even oem pattern discs are often more durable than EBC ones!, saying that they are better than there pads....but thats not hard [:D]

My new Boxster 3.2 needs new discs and am going to start with some OEM spec ones from Porscheshop i think ( ~£60 each from memory) , next year if i do some track work will look toward the Performance Friction 2 piece which we have seen good results with on other cars :D

Cheers
Ian

Must admit that I vaguely recall hearing one or two unfavourable reports about EBC discs but I wasn't sure. I'll be sticking with OEM I think.
Thanks everyone.
