ECU Remap

I would be wary of greatly uprating the engine of a car with tiptronic transmission personally. Regards, Clive.

I have a Gen I 997 turbo, totally standard at 480 bhp. It seemed very quick for the first few weeks but then of course........it becomes normal........

Has anyone has a DMS or similar remap to increase the power, one that has been suggested as a safe and reliable remap is to 550 bhp at a cost of about £1200

I have had a quote from a reputedly good remapper which involved a new exhaust system and remap at about four grand. I'm happy with the standard exhaust
and don't want to spend that much, besides I don't want the drone another exhaust would bring.

So any advice or experiences please?

Sounds like a good problem to have.. But is an increase of 70bhp really going to do it for you...? Really?... For how long? :( For about £1200 you can drive your car to the nearest drop-zone at and parachute club, buy yourself about 10 x 10,000ft freefall experiences... That could cure it. On a serious note. Remapping for £1200 sounds like your best bet. Add an air induction kit for another £800, then you're looking at +100bhp. What I would be looking for before I allow even a reputable company to do brain surgery on my car is a) references from former customers that I can call and talk with. 2) a pledge that my original Map can be backed up and changed if I wanted to do so. I say this because something to do with conservation of energy laws means that the 13% 'boost' you're going to get through remapping has got to come from somewhere and the most obvious place to look for this is how fast your engine will age under even more optimal operating parameters - may be burn more fuel or oil running at higher temperatures for example. So a backup would help your car return to a known sanity clause in its next life just before you move on to picking up your next rocket :) [link=http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTkFMPw-zqF32xugpS-fsS0vT8VrNmpJaYhwYks4Jieocm3Y1vwDA]Parachute[/link]

Yes, I talked myself out of this, the cars not slow anyway. Point to note on the tow wheels front, I run two Kawasaki's, both ZX10R's, a road and a track bike, both 2011 model bikes. That's where I find my extra adrenaline rush, circuits various around the country!

extra adrenaline rush.... on ZX10R's
That's very fortunate for you. My ZX-7R will top 170+++mph (tested at a secret location ;-) ) . I have never had the opportunity to ride a ZX10R on or off track but I can imagine that must put a smile on your face like you're never going to get out of any car, bi-turbo'd or remapped :) Your Turbo 911 is awesome as is and probably has more admirers than you think ;-) Enjoy it.. And for [link=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CT5vA-37bzc]the ultimate adrenaline rush why not get a wingsuit then try a Base Jump[/link] - will need some travel though, as this is illegal in Europe :)

I don't know about base jumping having static lined. Now on the topic of wing suits.....I do have a skin tight rubber suit complete with zipped hood and slave leash. Touting on the Old Kent Raod is a real adrenalin burner, you never know what you will find. Only joking [:D] The ZX10R's are awesome, particularly on the track, its almost wasted on the road really.
