Edinburgh OPC - great service

We are all quick to moan when we get lousy overpriced service (me included) so here is a wee good news story to redress the balance a bit [;)]

I haven't driven the Cayman for over a month cos of the crap weather, and was miffed to find that the gearchange had siezed up with the cold. I took it into Porsche Edinburgh this morning to have it checked. They stripped down the linkage, cleaned and lubed it and all is well again. They had the car for about an hour, and it was returned to me washed and valeted.

What really amazed me tho was when I asked for the bill ... and was told it was only a minor thing, so it was on the house, free gratis, no charge! [:D]

Nice one guys ... happy new year from a satisfied customer! [:)]

Thats great John. I know that you were on the brink of going ballistic the last time with them, so its great that your faith in them has been restored.

Ah, that's along time and an engine re-build away! [;)]

I'm almost embarrassed at how well I get treated there these days. Please don't anyone let it slip that I'm skint and unlikley to buy another car anytime soon [&:]

John... after hearing horror stories about various OPC's throughout UK... I too can give nothing but praise to the Edinburgh centre.

You guys know who you are down there... keep up the good work.

I think its the luck of the draw - in my opinion there are better technical staff at Glasgow, but with a poorer attitude, but get them on the correct day and they can be great. Edinburgh gives a more consistent experience, but I continually feel like just another transaction - very professional but a bit impersonal. I've been screwed by both sides - Edinburgh with warranty work - or lack of follow through on warranty while abroad (coil pack failed abroad which cost me £500 while I had the warranty - Edinburgh didn't want to know, neither did Porsche customer services), and Glasgow when it came to reprogramming a remote - they said it couldn't be done and charged me £250 for a full new key - found out later its 5 mins on the computer to do the job and reprogramme.

So I'd go with who is most convenient - who will pick up and return, and who offers the lowest price service on the phone - they're both the same owner (Sytner) anyway, so you don't benefit from any real competition.
