Edinburgh OPC

Certainly have - am actually quite surprised it'sstill on the forum bearing in mind the tightening up of rules. I am,of course, delighted it hasn't been moderated away. Salutory warning that OPCs may not always be squeaky clean in their dealings, not that I could afford to buy from them or have my servicing done there. Andrew W.

Very sad to read this, as I hold the Edinburgh OPC in fairly high regard, as I have been well satisfied in all my dealings with them, and I feel I have always been treated very well. I obviously do not know all the facts, but I would remind readers that there are always two sides to every story. I will reserve judgement till I have heard both sides. [&:]

Just read your replies John and do tend to agree with your thoughts .I bought my Boxster and it was described a one previous owner and it was a company car it may have been driven by one person or used as a pool car ,but at least I knew this before purchase and still had a full years warranty left and has given me no issues after nearly 2 years ownership I understand how the buyer feels and does sound grieved with a list of faults that length but all can be rectified I would just say to him to watch his wording on the forum (crooks )all this can be read by any party I just hope it all gets resolved to his satisfaction My car was serviced at Edinburgh and have no real issues with the service did have one issue but took it to Glasgow as was easier to sort .Glasgow is normally where I go but by using my own oil Edinburgh worked out £150 cheaper as Glasgow would not do this so lost out on a Warranty renewal and a service and brake fluid change £1300

ORIGINAL: kitchens I would just say to him to watch his wording on the forum (crooks )all this can be read by any party I just hope it all gets resolved to his satisfaction

ORIGINAL: tonymccandless Not at all surprised by this given our experience with Edin OPC. Overall it seems to be variable but when we hear folk praising them we do have a difficult time accepting that in light of our experience with them. They should step up to the mark here and just sort this out for the guy. K & T
Tony, didn't realise you have had problems with Edin OPC as well? Enlighten? I did have a few problems when I went to purchase my 1st 997 but it was rectified toot sweet and the staff were extremely accomodating from there on. It was under the old management then though. Kim

Are sales and service the same people? I have always had the impression they were different teams. Always been OK on service, although had to be firm/insistent on occasion (like reminding them that an ABS sensor repair was under warranty when they presented £300+ bill - 'oh yes, you are right, I'll delete that'). Me and my 944 were treated well under the old regime at Colinton and not too much difference with the 996 at Fort Kinnaird. A bit snooty that my MOTs are done elsewhere. Will probably go elsewhere now that warranty cant be renewed - any recommendations? Hugh

M&P Super cars out at Cockenzie. Or Derek at the Edinburgh classic car club, he maintains all of there cars and does homers :)

Brian Millar gets a good name, does a lot of the guys in the Tipec club, these guys don't have deep pockets so look for good value and service 0131 443 7806

Aye, as everyone has said … Brian Millar is the go-to guy in Edinburgh. Top bloke, honest as the day is long. Wee bit pricier than Motortune in Shotts, but handier for the East coasters. If you ever need geometry doing in Edinburgh, Willie at CLCM is the the bloke to see (0131 458 5559). Cheap, fast, and bloody good. Does ‘outside contracts’ for the OPC when they can’t fit people in or don’t have the knowledge on a certain model.

Have read this with great interest. I have had a few probs in the past with Edin OPC but in general they have been pretty good with me. It would also be very sad if the OPC visit scheduled for next month is boycotted as someone has suggested as to be fair, Edinburgh has accomodated us for 3 years running and it has always been very well attended night. Kx

Kim, I agree and as John said earlier in this post there are 2 sides to every story. On reading the story I must be honest and say whilst the OPC could be judged as not fully transparent,(according to the poster) I would not spend any money with any garage without seeing all the paperwork, even more so if the amount in question is near to £60K. Caveat Emptor

True But reading list of faults with the car on the main post and what OPC's claim they do in preparation for sale something does not add up

I just hope the original poster remembers when he goes to his meeting, that every word he has posted (both here and elsewhere, and even if since deleted) is in the public domain, and he can fully expect that Sytners will have read every word of it. caveat emptor indeed.
