Eight Years on...

JCB..

Non-member
Eight years ago, May 2000, I pulled out of Lovett's at Bristol looking like the proverbial Cheshire Cat.

Yesterday, May 2008, We finally hit the "Big 100".

I've posted all the issues over the years so I'll just give a summary of all the things that have gone wrong out of warranty and have cost me money over the last 8 years and 100,000 miles.

I wish didn't either!

Driving home in busy traffic at walking pace on a dark December 2000 evening. Suddenly in front it's like the parting of the Red Sea with cars heading for the pavement on either side. Then a Vauxhall Cavalier trundles in to view with a ninety year old bloke, complete with cloth cap, sat behind the wheel. I say sat as that is literally all he was doing. I run out of pavement and he noses into my drivers door and proceeds to graunch his way down the the side of the car and then he contnues off down the road before gently hitting the curb and coming to rest. I'm out of my car, jump up and down cursing a few times when I see what he has done, and then I set off in pursuit. When he stops I open his door and it was instantly clear that he did not have a clue where he was. So it was take a big chill pill and wait for the emergency services.

It was in the shop the next day but I regret to say that for a Porsche Repair Centre they were not very good. It even took them three goes for the official guarantee to match the damage that they repaired.

John, I've just done a bit of button bashing. At todays price, 100k's worth of super unleaded would have cost you the equivalent of... well, another Boxster!

So, if you had kept it in the garage rather than driving it, you could have had two!

However, I have an idea that you are not that sort of guy. There's no doubt about it... you have the right idea... they need to be driven and you have sure done that! [;)]

Keep on rockin...!

Don't forget the options I could get for all the money spent on tyres and servicing!

I remember thinking "That showroom door looks very narrow" but luckily the salesman drove it out for me. [:D]

Yes I still remember how it felt and I still get that tingle when"pushing on". [;)]

John,

congratulations! We have had a few super outings together, Ali said to say hello!

Ours is two years younger, but I never imagined we would still have her, going on for six years, but it be many more. That is, apart from our new Cocker puppy (called Carrera!) who may force us into more sensible transport.

If Carrera forces you into more sensible transport sell the other Porsche [:D]
Our new addition forced us to sell the hatch and get the Clubman S version [;)]
