hiya all, the electric seat ajustment switch {1st switch furthest away from ste/wheel} that operates the back of seat dont work, the 2nd switch operates fine, same on pass seat as well, same switch works and the other wont, is this a big job? as car going in end of the month for some little niggly things? thanks all jason p

Try it with the ignition on [;)]

I had same thing on mine after removing and replacing seats - turns out I had misaligned power connector under seat meaning that one switch would only work when ignition was on

thanks nick, have tried that, but no good, hope it something simple as other switches on both seats ok

Jason,

The seat wiring is deadly simple. If you are sure it isn't a mis-aligned connector, as Nick said (and do check this), then hoik the seat out (6 bolts - easy), and look at the underneath. You'll understand what is going on within 5 minutes, and diagnose any problem possible in another 5 (and probably 5 more would see you fixing it with a soldering iron.) The wires I think fairly often break - snagging on the carpet or something, and they are easily replaced. Make sure you tie them up neatly with cable ties to keep them safe when you come to re-install.

Jason, as Oli said check the Black plastic electrical connection which is attached to the seat frame, you need to unbolt the seat and lift it up at the front to see this.
Your description is that one switch works and one does not - that is exactly what happens if the plug is mis-connected. The wires lie on the carpet/under the carpet - thats normal.
Dont ask how I know about the plug
good luck
