Electric seat switch failure

The recline switch on my passanger electric seat no longer works. Does any one know if you can access the switches from the face plate, or do you have to remove the seat and access from beneath? I'm hoping its only a switch issue at this point.

Mike,

I had a similar failure on my car, I tried operating the switch while applying a little pressure to the back of the seat while sitting in it and it seemed to cure the problem as the seat has been fine since.

I have read removal of the switches and cleaning of the contacts usually works but I've also read it is quite common for the wires to the motor to be shredded to bits when caught in the mechanism.

To fix you need the seat out to investigate the later.

I had the switches fail on my 944 and 993 (both sides!) - one I managed to clean and it was Ok, the other switch needed replacing, which is a seat out job. In their infinite wisdom, Porsche have soldered the connecting wires from the seat switch into the motor control, which is a real pain. Would a connector block really have been so difficult?

By the way, getting the seat in and out is very simple.

Cheers/John
