electric window motor

I can answer this with experience as i had to do it 3 times on mine.
To be honest its a ball ache. Its quite a fiddly job and you will have to take the whole scissor arrangement out. Its best to shut the scissors as far as they go after unattaching it from the glass(if you can get away with leaving the glass in place all the better but i found it easier to remove the glass). You will then have to manouevre the scissors up into the door where the lock is and then back out through the gap at the bottom.
It takes a few gos and a bit of force but it will come out through the bottom gap eventually.
Fitting is obviously the reverse and it will take a bit of time to line up the top of the scissors with the glass.
Top tips are remove the electric window switch to prevent accidentally pressing it whilst your hands are inside and count all your fingers afterwards.
Once you suss how everything fits and moves its a job that can be done under an hour.

Hi There,

I've been having problems with the drivers side window myself in as much as it will work for a while then suddenly decide to not go down. I've had the linkage and motor out several times and have never needed to remove the glass.

Make sure the window is fully up then use some masking tape over the door frame to hold the glass up (I used two strips of 2" tape).

There are 5 or 6 8mm bolts holding the mechanism in place, remove all of these, and the electrical plug.

If you then look up inside the door you will see the three channels the rollers of the linkage run in, take hold of the linkage near to the motor and slide it towards the door hinge to release he rollers from the channels. (At this point you need to be careful where you put your fingers...!)

You can then, with a little patience manoeuvre the whole unit through the large hole in the bottom of the door.

Two more 8mm bolts and a cross head screw and the motor is released from the linkage.

Putting it all back together isn't too bad either but it will take a bit of time to get all three rollers back into the channels in the door. I found it easier to get the lower one in place first then work on the two at the top.

First time I had to do it, it probably took a couple of hours, I'm getting better with each subsequent attempt and probably now have it down to less than an hour, including removing and refitting the door panel.

Just wish I could fix it permanently, thinking the problem lies in the linkage so I might have to try a replacement.....

Hope this helps,

John.
