Electric Window Problem

Hi Guys

Problem - electric windows - both - stopped working, checked fuses, one blown so replaced it but now the windows work BUT only with a (either door!) open.

Any ideas?

Hi Mike,

I'm having to remember back to 1993 when my 8v 944 did the same thing. I can't quite be sure, but check the relay's. Electric windows work when the interior light circuit is active (i.e. door open) or when the ignition is on (where I think a different relay is used).

If my memory serves me correctly, the contacts of this relay were cleaned and I then refitted the relay (which I think was under passenger dash board).

Worth getting hold of a multimeter to help diagnose issues like this.

I have a meter (and can use it!) but couldn't see any connection between the two circuits.
I've not had chance to look properly yet, but having an idea where to start is very useful.
