Electric window wiring

As part of the rebuild on my SC I am really struggling trying to get the loom from the under bonnet area into the door. I have threaded the cable thro' the bulkhead hole but cannot get the female grommet to locate properly. It needs to be secure in the metal hole to enable the male connector to mate up. I have tried warming up the parts as well as rubber grease etc. Has anyone got any suggestions?

Yes they can be a pig to get in. Give the female connector a good clean with brake cleaner. Heat the female part with a hairdryer. Put some fairly liquid in a small container with a bit of water. Apply it around the edge of the female connector. Put the female connector in the hole, push and rotate at the same time. It should slide in. It works for me. Rich

Thanks Richard, yes it worked for me as well! Both sides now done & all the wires into the doors. I can now start re building the door internals. Looks like the car only had one mirror originally as there is only a loom going to the drivers side? I will have to make up a loom as there are 2 mirrors to fit!
