Electric window woes

Hi All,
Warranty expired 3 weeks ago and now my drivers side window isn't working! It made a clunk noise as I went to wind it down and stopped about 6cm open. I can hear the motor whirring but the window isn't moving. I managed to pull the glass up manually so I can lock the car. Maybe it has just come off the runners or something? Any advice appreciated.
Thanks
Vron

It sounds very much like the window regulator - that's the cable and track assembly. It's quite common. They are £107+VAT and a bit less than 2 hours to change.

Thanks for the replies. Is the airbag in the door a problem if I get it fixed myself?

If you disconnect the battery before you start (remembering to leave the ignition switch on) then you should be OK. As long as you don't put power on the system with the airbag disconnected than the airbag light shouldn't come on. If it does, then you would need to get it reset by an indy or OPC.
