HELP! I' m having a problem with my windows. When I open the door, both window drop all the way down! And then only go back up half way unless I turn the ignition on and off.

Anybody any idea' s

Well, untill you can get an OPC to fix it[] you could try the thing where you use the remote to lock the car, and hold the lock button in, this is supposed to close the windows if they are open.

Hope this works!

I didn' t know that mark! i shall have to try this out, im always forgetting to close the windows and have to get back in and put key in ignition.a real pain!

You need to reprogram the windows (believe it or not!). It' s in the Drivers Manual related to the section that talks about the battery being disconnected and reconnected. Essentially, you need to teach the windows where the lowest and highest points are.

Yep I can close both windows from the key fob on mine, its a real treat and looks cool when you park up. It annoys me though that when closing the soft top, the windows automatically drop down to allow it to fit but don' t then go back up when it has finished closing, too picky I know!

or when you open the roof!!
it' s too much like hard work having to reach and press that switch, ruins the nail varnish!![;)]

I tend to drive around with my own personel switch presser (Larry)

That will upset Larry, knowing he can be replaced by a key fob!! Or does he do other things for you as well?

Peter

I found the problem. It was the micro switch on the roof lock!! For some reason if this is faulty it causes the windows to go haywire.

Yes, I found out the trick with the key fob closing the windows today as well, I' m sure its not mentioned in the manual.

I' m sure its not mentioned in the manual.

Model Year?? The attached is the best I can do given the limitations of the forum software (200kb attachments). If you want the full diagram, send me an email with the model year and I'll attach a pdf to the reply. Also, a description of the problem would help.

Cheers for that Richard. Sorry I can't give any more info at the moment - apparently there is some kind of noise coming from the door but that is all I know 'till I get there [8|] The diagram should give me a starting point anyway [:)]

I'll have a look and post again with the results!

The window regulator fails after a period, not helped by the mechanism slides drying out over the years - sound like a possible dry slide and impneding regulator failure , part cost about £170 from OPC.

Door panel removal is easy - loads of indepth info and pictures on the internet

Cheers for the extra info - I'm told that it was intermittant at first and then played up after it stood for a couple of weeks so a sticky reg would sound about right - I'll check it out [:D]
