electric wing

Hi there
I'm looking to do some paint work around the engine lid area can anyone tell me how to safely, without damaging it, remove the electrical rear wing.

Depends on what you mean by electrical wing, the movable part is held on by four cap head screws, to left two right side, then remove the spoiler wall
The deck lid itself is cap heads again, all the wiring can be removed without disconnecting the battery if post 90..pre 90's had a different mechanism and control so I can't say on that.

Really comes apart quite easily, Allen bolts in the moving parts, I seem to remember. You have to get the wing up to do this. The 'wall' slides out.

What won't come apart is the black under section from the painted surround -appears to be bonded in.

The electrics all unplug quite easily.
