Electrical connection to headlamp unit

Has anyone any thoughts on how to clean the female connector pins (the ones captive in the front wings) on the headlamp connector?
I've carefully abraded the male pins on the headlamp unit but I still have an intermittent on the dipped beam...
Is there anything that can be sprayed on (other than WD40 which seems to leave a lot of water residue behind)

WD40 stands for Water Deterrant 40 which means it repels water for 40 days or so before it breaks down or evaporates enough to let water back in. So it should only ever be a temporary fix if there's water involved.
