The battery has plenty of power in it, but when you turn the engine over on the key it sounds like the battery is dead..
Ive checked + cleaned all the terminals + earthing connections that i can find,,, all to no avail....[][]
The imobilizer is a "tubular key type" when its placed in its recepltical the light goes out which should meen the car will start .. BUT still no result...
The cars been intermitantly working for the last few days BUT it seems to have died completely now...[][]
Ive looked at this "black box" + the terminals seem to be corroded + inside , the circuit board looks "old "...
Looks like ill have to call my friendly alarm man...[8|][8|][8|]

Ours has (what I believe to be) the factory-fit imobiliser with the rectangular key that you shive in beside the ignition for 1-2 secs before starting.
I had some problems with the alarm going off incessantly in very wet weather when we first got the car ~ when I popped this box open it was full of condensation. Dried it out and ever since, ...... well I'd better not tempt fate []

Ta for the confirmation....Its nice to know it was fitted from new...
I actually think its for the interior sensors..As diver944 says..[]
Ive got a switch on the centre console to switch them off as they kept going off unessesarilly...
At least we/I have found out what the "little black box is"...It just looks very aftermarket in the way its got "loose" wires around....
The imobilizer thats fitted is an aftermarket job....NOT the Porsche fitted one..

They were all made by a company called Palmer & Hamilton (or Hamilton & Palmer [8|] ) in Kent and fitted by Porsche GB when the cars were imported. It's important that the old one is removed fully when replacing so as not to cuase problems in years to come.

Just to add to this, when I got my Turbo the only real fault with the car was the alarm - basically there had been a drainage blockage and the control unit / siren had obviously become submerged at some time. I rang Hamilton & Palmer and, whilst they don't make or sell that model of alarm any more, the chap said he thought they still had the relevant bits in the warehouse and he would put one together for me. Three days and £40 later my alarm was fixed! Fantastic customer service, and they were more than happy to get their resident Porsche expert to have a look at the car if the replacement unit didn't do the trick.
(My immobiliser is non-Porsche, fitted about 6 years ago)
