Electrics Dead after trying to trickle charge

Hi all,
Just a quick question. My battery went dead after a couple of weeks non use so I put a trickle on it. The alarm went a bit mad and eventually went off, unfortunately so has all my electrics. The only thing I can do is manually open and lock the drivers door. I do know to att. a battery to the Red strip in the fuse box and also to earth it but that hasn't worked ( to open the front). Now I didn't use a battery, I used a battery charger with a slow, fast and a car start function. I used the car start function to attempt to open the front up. Would this work? or am I going to have to look for another reason for the problem.
Cheers
Dave

I don't think a charger will work. There was a chap on the Boxster forum a few weeks ago with the same issue, and a charger didn't work for him.

Doesn't it depend how dead the battery is I ad to replace a battery as it couldn't re charge last year but ca trickle charge this one when it went dead due to lack f use

The standard chargers can show how your battery is holding up. Or even worse the alternator is gone

Or use this method to power the central locking, but you WILL need a battery for this: http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/fb.asp?m=733735
