electronic parking brake fault

Derek,

The EPB operates on a separate drum brake within the brake disc and it sounds as though it may not be functioning correctly. With the brake off, you should be able to push the car reasonably easily on level ground. If you can't then I'd get the problem looked at ASAP.

If you have Porsche Assistance you'll be able to get the car trailered in to the Porsche Centre.

Hi had the above this morning.

when pulling away this morning, the parking brake light was flashing and on screen message 'parking brake fault...'
turned engine off, started up again, all seems ok now?

I must omit that I have had a couple of noises from behind me (can hear with door open) when turning key & foot on brake peddle (not starting) of a 'click' noise
prior to this morning. not sure if its my imagination but sometimes it seems 'slow' to pull away in the mornings. (are the pads sticking?, I believe the EPB operates some pads, car is nearly 3 years old)

any thoughts would be appreciated
car still under original warranty, (also been extended for a further 2 years) so possibly get it checked out, but its a 70 mile round trip to dealers

thanks for that Jeff.

not sure if its my imagination about pulling away in the morning sometimes.

The car is left outside, so weather may play a part. I have assistance but seems a bit drastic

I will ring dealer and see what they say

I believe there have been a couple of software updates for the parking brake control unit, it may be worth checking that you have the latest version. I had a few problems when I first had my 991 but since the last update have not had any issues.
