Elite Auto Detail

For those of us in the frozen north i'd just like to let you know that i had my car autodetailed yesterday and a fabulous job has been done.

Glyn O'Donnell from Carnoisseur did the work and i can't believe the difference in the car. It is seven years old and looks in showroom condition.

I have read about other auto detailers but mainly in the south Glyn is based in York, and I have to say i can't beleive the results - all the swirl marks have gone and a couple of really nasty scratches which i had done on a run last Sunday when on a single track road have also been polished out.

I have loads of pics but too big to upload so if anyone can advise me how to load them i'd be happy to let you see even though i am now quite ashamed of how bad it looked before!!

I've just had a look at the pictures from Glyn's thread! Holy Cow how on earth did it get in that state.[&:]

It does look good now though.

Mine's not in a bad state but I might have a look at that Wolfgang Total Swirl Remover
found some here :- http://www.motorgeek.co.uk/wolfgang-total-swirl-remover-menzerna-p-346.html
but I suppose you really need to use it with an electric polisher.

Talking of polish I just picked up some Autoglym High Definition Wax for £28 on FleaBay

Hi Andy, most dark cars can look this bad in sunlight or in the halogens lights i was using. Motorgeek is the best place to get the wolfgang from ask for Ron, but yes it does need to be applied with a rotary and at slow speeds but professionally. I do get to Peterborough if need be.
With regards to the AG wax i would save your money and spend it on something better like Swissvax Onyx or Dodo purple haze.
Drop me a line if you need any help finding it or anything at all i can assist with

Thanks

Glyn

very impressive-dont suppose you come as far south as st albans-any tips on local guys??
great job and thanks

Hi Dylan, yes i do get down to Hertfordshire next trip will be in Sept though, drop me a pm or if that is too far ahead i can suggest a guy closer

Super job. The whole area of detailing facinates me.

Glyn, have you a few pics of what type of scratches can and cannot be removed and how best to approach them?

Also, what do you advise for little marks where the evil bird poo seems to burn a slight imprint into the paintwork?

What small pads did you use for the awkward curves on the 996 (rear)?

Hi Mike, its difficult to photo which type of scratch will and wont come out as there are a few other items in question as in the depth of the clearcoat which i need to measure first with an ultrasonic gauge.

The hard to reach areas are normally done by me with smaller 3" pads which access most places or by hand if the rotary wont fit in.

With regards to the bird lime this again had a few factors i.e paint thickness but normally can be wet sanded from the paint.

I use Gurcharn from Elite Detailing (www.elitedetailing.co.uk) and his results are truly amazing......he's doing a new car detail for in a couple of weeks too.......travels the country all the time.......the efforts put in by the detailers to make our cars back to better than showroom condition really has to be seen to be appreciated...................[:)]
