Embarrassingly Easy Air Filter Question (944s2).......

Now, I don't cassify myself as a mechanic, but I thought even I'd be able to change the air filter on my 944s2. Anyway, I've bought the bit, looked in my handbook and found to my utter confusion that it basically says that you have to take s2 models to a main dealer in order to have the air filter changed! Anyway, I smugly popped open my bonnet and..........I CAN'T FIND IT!!!!!

Does anyone know where it is and why I may need to take it to a main dealer for such a routine job??!!

THANKS!!!!!

It's not difficult, it's just a pain in the bum.

The airfilter is underneath the badge panel right at the front of the car, and you have to remove this to change it:

1. Undo the 4 screws along the back edge of the badge panel. .
2. Pop up the lights and undo the 2 screws inside that are pointing towards the centre of the car.
3. Undo the two small bolts at the outer edges of the badge panel where it joins the front wings (you will need a very small ratchet set for these)
4. Slide the whole badge panel forward being careful not to scratch the front bumper.
5. The airbox is inside and is released with two clips
6. Refitting is the reversal of....yadda yadda yadda

It's between the headlights.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]There are 4 or 5 Philips screws along the back edge of the "badge panel" that need to come out, then you need to pop up the lights and slide the rubber seal they close against toward the middle of the car to reveal another fastener either side (10mm hex I think). Lastly there is another 10mm hex that goes from the headlight aperture through the round bit you can see between the badge panel and the bottom corner of the front wing and into the wing. Once the fasteners are all removed the panel comes off forward, as it has a lip that slides under a lip in the underbonnet metalwork. From then on it's easy.[FONT=verdana, geneva"]
