Apparently the 993 has an emergency bonnet release cable. It departs the boot compartment from the nearside adjacent to the headlight. Where does it go does anyone know. I nearly needed it at the weekend when my cable moved just as I had opened the bonnet, it had come out of adjustment. There is no information in the 993 handbook about it.

Emergency Bonnet Release

Hi
Your front bonnet emergency release cable lives inside the nearside wheel arch - you will need to remove the wheel arch liners to gain access to it - but it should be located somewhere above the air conditioning condenser/fan assembly and the washer tank on the inboard side of the car. If you can't find it someone has probably done some work on the car and forgot to put it back in the right place...I know this is the case as I managed to lock myself out of the car after the door open microswitch stuck and locked me out the car with the engine still running - 1and a 1/2 hours later after trying to locate the said release cable (to enable me to pop the hood and remove the fuel relay) I resorted to smashing the front quarter light window...not my finest hour!!
Subsequently I made sure that the bonnet release cable was readily accessible in the event of such an occurence again!!
Hope that helps - there is also one for the rear boot that should live behind one of your rear light clusters.

The rear one is actually behind the LH wheelarch rear liner, above the exhaust box not behind the light cluster. I have just fitted this to mine as it was missing.

Will have to take another look at mine, could not see a way into the light cluster from the engine bay.
