Emigrating Porsche!

Anybody shipped their beloved Porsche from the UK to the other side of the world?

Me and the family are flying off to New Zealand early next year and (within my grand plan at least!) am desperately wanting my 2004 Boxster S to follow across the oceans.

I'm pretty well clued up on the customs clearance stuff but if anyone does want to share their specific experiences or has contacts that they would recommend please post it here!

Cheers.

Not a Porsche no, but my Father shipped a car to Cyprus a few years ago.

It took twelve weeks to get there by sea.

He used Neale Bros in Leicester and was charged £1200 for a twenty foot container, this swallowed up evrything else and the car.

The car arrived in perfect condition.

The shipping company advised him on the car prep. but this included disconnecting the battery and putting a film of wax over the car.

Hope this helps

Rob

I lived in Australia for 9 years and my understanding is that NZ rules are the same.
You have to own that car for at least 1 year prior to shipment else you will have to pay import duty.
Also the car will have to be modded to NZ/Aus spec when it gets there before they will allow you
to rego the car. Porsche's are incredibly expensive out there so it is worth taking it out there if you
can afford the hassle and expense. But the biggest problem may be if your car is out of warranty.
Then you will be up for costs if anything goes wrong with it.
