Enabling computer in dash

I've seen many forums about enabling the computer in the dash cluster by either fitting a replacement new combi switch or a cheaper option of fitting a tip switch and getting the OPC to switch on the function. All the forums go on to say that this is only possible if you do not have the PCM option.

My question is why would it not be possible to enable the computer in the dash in addition to the PCM screen.
I personally would prefer to see some options in the dash whilst having the PCM set to its normal screen or the map screen.

Is it possible to have both or have I just mis-read the articles.

Thanks
Dave.

Hi Dave,

I was thinking the same and after a little research found out you can retro fit the stalk to get the on board computer functionality quite easily, I think it was rentech.

I didn't bother with the stalk but got a local indie to activate the computer through their diagnostic equipment. I just chose to have the outside temperate displayed but I had a few choices from memory.

So, its certainly possible.

Hope that helps,

Rob

Thanks for the replies guys.
I cvouldnt see why having the PCM would effect it being enbled - but you never can tell.

Thanks for the great info once again.

Dave.
