End of Ungaraged Classic Car Insurance in London

Chubb has just pulled out of insuring Classic Cars in London if they are not garaged.
My broker Asset Trust didnt send me a note saying that until 1 day before my insurance expired.
Tried a few other brokers and its same story with AEON.

Has anyone got an Classic Car Insurance that still accepts un-garaged cars in London? If not they my only options are very expensive hire a garage or pay around £2000 for a normal fully comp insurance - neither are worth it for doing less than 3000 miles/year.

Needless to say I'm incensed at this - as Chubb could have put up their premium to cover the extra risk rather than pulling out of the market.

Hi
This sounds bad.
Try Lancaster Insurance. They have been pretty good so far .
Good luck
Nick

Thanks for advice but Lancaster quoted £1800!
They said that most of their Classic car policies require the car to be 20 years old.
I had got away with 15 year with Chubb Insurance (my car is 1994).

Now waiting on a quote from Towergate through a broker.

Classicline were the only ones who'd cover me ungaraged but on own drive, in Rickmansworth, when I first looked about 7 years ago. Also gave a better price if my partner was included for some reason. [&:]

Nice hint Paul!

Classicline quoted £600 on a policy underwritten by Brit Insurance.
To qualify for that in London car needs to be:
1. worth less than 20k
2. be more than 10 years old
3. be owned claim free for more than 2 years
4. not kept on road (i.e. driveway will do - doesnt need it to be garaged).

I'm paying £100 more than last year as the policy is loaded for it not being garaged and strangely feeling good about that
I've had a number of other leads/quotes but they came into the £1000-£2000 range.

So this Brit Insurance policy is very rare and I hope it last for years to come.

Thanks for a great suggestion - a perfect example of the value of belonging to PCBG
