Engine bay fan failure

I've noticed over the last week that red coloured hot coolant light starts to shine and a computer warning of engine compartment fan failure. However, the fan is working because I can hear it. It started to happen when I was stuck in traffic. Any ideas would be appreciated. Also, is it covered under the warranty? I've got 4 days left on it!
