Engine bay light stuck on

Hi Guys,

I took my car out tonight for a 15 minute drive. When I returned and parked it in the garage, I noticed I could see the engine bay light through the vents. Opened and closed the boot. Switched the alarm on/off. Switched off all the other lights. Can't think why this has suddenly happened. My car only has 30,000 on the clock and has only been driven in the rain once.

It's late and dark, so I haven't checked dip switches yet. However I'm wondering if my 2 year old has pressed something whilst playing 'driver'. Any ideas?

Cheers,

Neil.

I don't think that you've got a problem. I noticed the same thing on my C2 a few years back. I'm pretty sure that the light goes out after you've locked the car down and it has gone through its alarm arming stage, etc. Are you sure that the bonnet isn't open - as the engine compartment light comes on if you open the bonnet....?

Have lok at this: http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=585858&mpage=1&key=engine%2Cbay%2Clight&#585858

Was going to say a similar thing, if it doesn't go off after you've locked / armed the alarm and left the car for a few moments then it could be the contact switch for the bonnet.

+1 (front bonnet, that is)

Yep, after inspection in the daylight, it was the contact switch in the front bonnet that was causing the problem. This also explains why I got the horn beep each time I locked the car even though everything inside and out was closed.

All fixed now, thanks for your help!

Neil.
