Engine bay seal?

Hi all. I'm a newbie, I've ventured/progressed over from the vw scene and just bought a '82 944. I'm just getting to know the car and do a lot of work myself (You have to when you're into old dubs). I've been doing a lot of engine work and it bothers me that there is no engine bat seal, apart fron the one that goes across the fire wall. Is this right? Should there be a seal, should it be on the engine bay or bonnet?
Cheers all. No doubt i'll sharp come up with othere queries so please bare with me.

Thanks pal. It just seemed a bit stange, there's a lip there to possibly attach one but if no one's got one fitted then sod it.
