Q FROM THE 964RS FORUM -IS THIS A 993 PROBLEM OR WAS THE CARRIER MODIFIED??

Was the engine carrier on the RS strengthened from the outset?

The reason for my question is that the advice coming out of discussions on Rennlist is to strengthen the engine carrier, when replacing the engine mounts on a 964 with the RS versions. As far as I can see on PET the engine carrier for the RS is the same as other N/A 964s.

If it wasn't strengthened on the RS from the outset, have any of you had it modded later? Has anyone been unfortunate to have a carrier break?

Will it show where they crack ? Or don't they ? javascript:void(AddText('[;)]'))

How do I make smileys work ?

i have seen earlier 911 break, but the later cars with the stiffer chassis tend to be ok.,the rs,cup, rsr and even the gt2 racer have been fine with solid mounts.
The trick with the earlier cars is to get another support, cut off the end mounts and weld next to and on the original support, piggy back style.

If someone is looking to buy it, I'll sell it at 50% of the official price.

The standard carrier on a 993 is 993 115 021 90 and is £267.87
The 993 RS carrier 993 115 021 41 and is the same price.

Unless they have hugely different dimensions, it seems the only real differences (apart from the 993RS mount being strengthened) is that the 993RS part doesn't have the 5x captive nuts, and has additional square holes in the centre which I guess wouldn't matter when fitted to a 964RS.

Also, interesting that the 993cab has a 964 part number. I can't see why a 993RS mount wouldn't fit a 964RS?
