Hi

as you can probably tell i am a new boxster owner, my Engine check light has come on, is it safe to use the car until I can get it checked out.

Hi Rusty,

Depending on where you intend to get your car maintained, if you bought from an OPC etc you will need to call either the local OPC or the non-franchised repairer, a repairer at either will plug in the diagnostic for the fault code, they may either treat it as a breakdown or after questions say to drive it in. The majority of faults are ok to drive with but unless you know the fault best not drive it before talking to a repairer.

If you bought from an OPC you will have warranty and breakdown cover to collect the car and take it in.

Hope this helps,

Hi
Buddy

bought the car private it had 65,000mls FSH, I have done 5000mls no probs other than a new set of Bridgestone SO2s and a Battery, I have had a tester put on it and it seems it come up with the fault codes that relate to miss firing so possible its the coil packs.

has anyone out there replaced the coil packs themselves and what sort of job is it.

thanks

Rusty

hi

done the coil packs and plugs once the cars jacked up about half an hour a side although one bolt took me about an hour to get out, main problem is it hasn't made any difference to the missfiring, my local porsche place says it could be the camshaft tensioner will try to get it there for them to diagnose it.

not sure what sort of job the cam tensioner is ?

Hi

decided to take my car to get a Durametric check on it and someone who knows how to use it, went to Design911 at Hainult,Essex found them very helpful considering I just turned up out of the blue with a missfiring Boxster.

various fault code came up on the guys laptop which made him think it was the Air Mass Sensor then having spoke to the mechanic who confirmed it they fixed it for me streight away £210 parts and labour, excellent service would recommend them mind you they are in Porsche Post.

one thing I have learnt from this I should have gone there first then I would have save money in the long run, still car is running the best it ever has thanks guys
