engine compartment fusebox

Thought I'd do a job that has been on the list since buying my car 12 years ago - change the fusebox in the engone compartment, the old one was cracked and fuse 3 had been replaced by a bodge..

I made a note of the wires connnected to each fuse terminal, and have now started to reconnect. Problem is the last one, which I am trying to conect to fuse terminal 2 (or 3 - they are interconnected) is live and when connected starts the engine compartment blower. So I've got my note of the connections wrong.

Could one of you kindly have a look at your car and tell me which colours wires connect to each side of fuses 1, 2 and 3 please?

Hi,
I had a look at my car last night and as the engine is not there I have taken the attached photo.
looking top left the wire is thick red. Top right is Red, right second from top is Red/White and Bottom right is Red/Black.
I hope this helps. By the way mine is a 1983 car.

Hi again,
I've also had a look in the work shop manual and the wiring is different for 1978-80 & 1981-83 cars, so you need to be aware of the year of your car!!

best of luck,

Paul.

Well folks; first thanks to Paul Dunster and also to Bones, for giving me info. I could not get anywhere, so dropped the car into Paragon, my local independent. They found the wiring was fine; the problem was that the fusebox supplied by my local OPC was for a later car (probably a 964 I expect) and needed a mod to make it work with the SC!

So its now running fine.

And the missus has said she is fed up with me working on the car so its got to go. Hey ho; we have a lifestyle change coming up anyway, due to children levaing home and us buying house in France, so will soon be advertising the car. So if you know anyone looking for a good (but not perfect) mechanically sound SC in silver metallic, put them in touch..

Bones - yes I fear so. Probably go on ther market late summer in the hope that I can at least have some fun with it for a few more months. If anyone wants a sorted SC, or knows someone else who does I'll open negotiations sooner

But for evidence of lifestyle change look how long it has taken to post this reply!

well good luck selling Simon, try not to stick into a hedge this summer before you do though!......[;)] and think about buying another when you can.
