Engine compartment light.

My engine compartment light is staying on and the horn is sounding to alert that something is open after I've closed everything and tried to lock the car. I can see the light through the rear spoiler slats. I've tried spraying what I think is the switch with some electrical contact cleaner but it's still on. I haven't driven the car since October '08 until today.

Can anyone help please..?

Ok - I guess you live and learn....... As covered in a previous thread, I didn't realise that my front boot was open whist I was trying to get the light in the engine compartment to go out! It looks like the engine compartment light comes on when you open the front boot. At least my switch has had a clean...[8|]

But now I have another problem! I usually keep my centre console compartment closed and locked but I opened it and now I can't get the blessed thing to stay shut. I've ended up leaving it open and locked the car. The horn blipped to let me know that something was open but then the interior lights went out and all seems well. I just can't close the bloody centre compartment! Can anyone tell me how to adjust it so that I can close it?
I'm also concerned that it might open itself and set the alarm off - so I'm leaving it open! (This happened to me before and the alarm went off! [])
Is my alarm activated now that I've left the centre compartment open...?

Any help would be appreciated. (I should really have started a new thread for this - sorry!)

Adrian.
