Engine compartment light

After suffering a flat battery , i have noticed the light in the engine compartment stays on when the hood is shut. Where is the switch that control this?
Also i have noticed to engine coolant is very low, the car has only covered 2500 miles since it's last Major service but i have noticed the smell of coolant while the car is stationary although i have not noticed any drips.
 
Just read another thread, now i know that while the bonnet is up the engine compartment light is on!
 
There was a recent thread here about coolant smells and leaks - all too common - radiators especially it seems.


 
the switch at the back of the latch becomes detached in the rear compartment and may need clipping back in place or even sticking back in place...
