Engine Cover

Hi,

Anyone know if an engine cover for a pre-facelift 996 is the same as a post face lift ?

I've been offered an Arctic Silver engine cover with motorised spoiler from a 1997 car.

Anyone see any issues, looks like it has everyting but the fan.

Cheers

Paul

The PET shows the same spoiler for all C2/C4 model years. Only the C4S has a different driving mechanism and hinge. The engine cover is also the same for all C2's and C4's (different for C4S) so you should be OK. Presumably you can swap the fan over from yours.

What's the problem with the Carrera spoiler?

Cool, thanks Richard.

I am still in two minds about the look. Thing is I like the 'different to stock' effect, but from behind it just looks wrong....... that and I like how te stock unit flips up automatically as you whoosh off into the distance...

It's at a great price, so if I change my mind (which I do frequently) it's not going to break the bank swapping back.

Paul,

can't help but be curious...

What's the difference between the engine cover you have, and the one you're thinking of having?

Don't they all have motorised spoilers (I'm assuming you mean that one that lifts at 74mph...)?

Cheers, Neil.

He's got the Aerokit spoiler. Probably makes it worth twice as much as a regular Carrera....a rare breed![:D]

Yeah, I have a fixed spoiler that looks cool from all angles but from directly behind the car... still in 2 minds, but this boot lid would give me the option to swap back if I wanted to...

Hmmm.......

Paul,

I had the same feelings before I bought the car with the rear wing. Really wasn't too sure about he spoiler. But as you mentioned, it makes the car stand out in a sea of 911s, and gives it a nice edge.I really do like it now.

I actually think getting the side skirts would be a good option for you. It gives the car a much 'heftier' and lower look.
