Engine cut out, HELP!

Hi,

I've had my 1988 944 Turbo for 4 months and seem to be having some teething problems. The engine cut out on me the other night with no warning and would not start again, the AA man narrowed it down to 'the injectors not pulsing'. It is not the first time this has happened, a week after I picked the car up this happened and found it was a loose wire causing the fuel pump to remain on constantly, therefore flooding the engine.

Has anyone had a similar experiance and knows how to resolve the problem or can guide me in the right direction?

Thanks

Steven

not wanting to run down the AA but on the only occasion my car stopped for no real reason the AA was more involved in getting his head under the bonnet just for a look and then got it complety wrong, my engine stoped beause of the fuel pressure regulator failed, which took Mark from PorscheShop 2 mins to find and 3minutes to correct, so my advise is get it looked at by some one who really knows these engines in and out as it will save you time and money in the long run.

I had a new DME relay put in the first time it went wrong to find out that wasn't the problem.

I have a feeling the fuel pump is flooding the engine again, currently it is with TVR Henley (where I purchased the car) and they are struggling to find the problem, I'm hoping it's mechanical and not electrical as this is covered by the warrenty.

I have to admit the AA man was very thorough and managed to override the electrics to eliminate some possible faults but as usual didn't manage to get the car started.

I have spoken with TVR who has narrowed the problem down to the injectors not pulsing but cannot see why, it must be the engine management sytem playing up. I have given them the name of my Porsche specialist and his electrical specialist guy and waiting for a result, hopefully before the weekend.

I'll keep you posted.

Thanks

Steven

After speaking to a porsche specialist it was found to be the flywheel reference sensor causing all the problems. I have just got it back and fired up staight away.
Sadly it wasn't covered on my warrenty (my car was the wrong shade of red!!!) and cost me £380. Ouch.

Hope this help anyone else with a similar problem.

Cheers

Steven
