Engine cuts out?

Twice in the last few weeks my engine has suddenly cut out. On both occaisions it has restarted within a few minutes and run just fine after that.

Each time the engine has cut out in second gear and going up a slight incline!

It feels like the ignition is being cut off

Is this a DME relay problem, any views?

Sounds like it might be DME related. Have you a spare one you could put in to see if that fixes it ? Does your existing DME relay have a "944" part number ? Those are particularly prone to failure.

If you don't have a 993 one they are only £40, so I would order one in any case and see if that fixes it. You should always carry a spare.
 
Well I have finally got hold of two brand new 993 units date stamped this year, so will se if this fixes it.

The old one in the car was a 993 part number date stamped 1998 so it had ben in there 9 years!!
