Hi
i have a 911e 2.4 and have just bought a 3.0 sc engine to replace it with, but was wondering if i needed to buy a new oil tank? or if they both hold around the same amount.

any information would be appriciated.

thanks

You should be ok with the 2.4e oil tank. there was no cooler at the front on the e but was on the SC you could run with just the engine cooler but if used in hot conditions you may have to add a front oil cooler. By the way I am interested in buying a 2.4e engine! Regards Berny.

I'm sorry if this is a bit of a passionate response, but you want to replace an original MFI 2.4 with a proverbial thirtheen-a dozen SC engine?! Running how- on carburettors or K-jet?

I hope that this is some temporary measure.

I'm going to climb on my soapbox and I'd like to make a stance that a well set up MFI equipped 2.4E is a RARE Porsche and one of the great 911's.

Credit crunch withstanding, it'll becomes more valuable by the day and with all that is happening in the financial markets a rare old 911 is something to hold on to.

If your car is pretty original, the likelyhood is that they are trading for better prices than decent 996's and that situation is only getting better.

Are you going to butcher your bodywork with oil lines and a front cooler as well? Yet again, originality is compromised...[:(]

Prices of SC are not exactly expensive; a good MFI equipped pre 73 is turning into a rare commodity.

Sorry, but my two pence [;)]

nah im only 19 and bought the 911e for just over 5 grand, some idiot had changed it to look like a 930 turbo look, so i sold the engine which i got alot for as i wanted a more reliable engine as it is going to be an every day car, i wish i could put it back to standard and sell it for what its worth but im 19 and its my first porsch and i saved up for ages for it so im happy with what ive got, im thinking of turning it into a iroc replica as i have the turbo arches on it, they had 3.0 litre engines but this is in the future im happy with what ive got for the minute

ah, well, in that case there is only a hint of a 2.4E in it. Having said that, the time might come in a couple of years to turn that bitza into a proper car, sell it, and sink some money into a deposit for a flat and get a cheap IB 911 as a schmoker.

anyhow, good luck with the car and welcome to the 911 experience!!!
